Then an anynominus Army Officer, professing to be a graduate (Class of 1861), describes in detail life of a Cadet during four years at West Point just before the Civil War began. A 40-page Appendix provides a copy of the Congressional Committee on Military Affairs report on the expediency and constitutionality of West Point submitted in 1834.
